Ask Me Anything: October 2018

Every once in a while I feature an “ask me anything” question box on my Instagram Stories. I love hearing what you’re interested in! Here are the Top 20 Questions you’ve asked me recently.

1. What’s your gym routine & how did you get into a good flow?

This is such a tricky question. There is no secret to jumping back into working out. I’ve been athletic my entire life, but starting back up is a struggle each time. It takes two weeks to get back into it. If you can make yourself consistently go to the gym for two weeks, you’ll develop the habit and you’ll start to love it. I hate cardio. I lift weights to workout. A lot of women think lifting weights will make them big and bulky, but that’s just not true. That’s how you build a booty! Would you be interested in a work out routine post? Let me know in the comments below!

2. Where is your favorite place to travel?

My favorite country I’ve visited so far has been Italy! I love the culture, the food, the people, the views… it’s all so great! I’ve only been to Portofino, Santa Margherita & Cefalu in Sicily. I’d love to make it to Rome, Venice, Florence… okay… I might as well just move there. But, I love traveling to scenic, foodie & culture-rich places.

3. How do you get your skin so incredibly perfect? Did you ever suffer from acne?

You are too sweet! My skin is not perfect, but it’s come a longggg way. I suffered from acne for a long time. I recently wrote a blog post about my skincare routine! Click here to read it.

4. Would you ever move to England?

Definitely! I’ve managed to buy a little more time here in the U.S. because I’m reluctant to leave the sunshine, but ultimately, I know I will end up in England at some point. My husband is from England and all of his family and friends are there, so it’s basically my second home already!

5. Why did you decide to start blogging?

I originally started a blog to keep in touch with my family & friends when I moved away from home for the first time. I had no intentions of making it become a full-time thing until I developed a love for connecting with like-minded people from all around the world & creating and editing photos. I started receiving messages from girls and women who said they love my positivity and realness. If I can make one person smile each day, that’s enough for me.

6. What was the most difficult challenge you ran into when you first started blogging?

I had no idea what I was doing and to be honest, I still don’t. I thought I wanted to be a travel blogger because I travel frequently and I love exploring new places, but I quickly realized that it wasn’t fun for me. I didn’t enjoy spending my time taking photos of what I was eating and seeing because I liked enjoying the moment. Now, I’m realizing that I love sharing fashion and my everyday looks as well as general lifestyle things… positive thinking and such. I’m still trying to find my place and I think that’s the biggest challenge for me. I am also an over-thinker, so writing blog posts aren’t easy for me. I re-read everything a million times and I never get anything done because of it. But, I enjoy it so much! I’m sure it will get easier and more natural as I go.

7. Favorite place in the world to unwind and why?

Hmmm. It would either be by my pool or on the beach during sunset. Swimming in the water makes me feel so free of life around me. There’s nothing like going under water and only hearing the sound of waves moving around me & feeling weightless. Sunsets are mesmerizing to me and I won’t get tired of them as long as I live. Most nights, I sit outside my apartment and watch the sunset with a glass of wine. It’s my time to appreciate nature’s beauty and disconnect from the real world.

8. What’s your worst defect? And what’s your biggest quality?

I’d say my biggest downfall is that I’m a very anxious person. I suffer from generalized anxiety, so pretty much everything stresses me out in some aspect. Haha. It’s not fun, but I’ve learned to deal with it. I especially get really stressed out when I have to meet new people. You would never know it, because I have a pretty outgoing personality, but inside I’m a stress ball. I think my biggest quality is that I have a knack for finding solutions to things. I believe that there is always a way to turn a negative into a positive and it comes naturally to me to do so.

9. I know you have an Event Management degree. What other types of careers could you pursue with this degree?  What made you pursue it and what qualities do you need to be good at it?

There are so many different types of events in this world: social events (weddings, birthday parties, showers), corporate events, sporting events, concerts, fairs & festivals, non-profit events, etc. The options are endless! I originally decided to pursue my degree because I was interested in organizing sporting events (like, Super Bowl-style events). Then I got interested in weddings and realized some brides were a handful. I continued to explore all aspects of events because I knew I loved organizing things and especially executing a memorable experience for people. I worked internship after internship before I stumbled upon my last one with Universal Orlando and that’s when I fell in love! There’s nothing like hosting an event in a theme park. It sets a backdrop for guests that you can’t quite create anywhere else. There are a few qualities that you must have to be successful in events: multi-tasking, remaining calm under pressure, a desire to achieve perfection and a willingness to work together as a team with your partners.

10. What’s your hair care routine? Your hair is always perfect and no fly aways 🙂

Thank you, love! I’m planning to do a hair care routine blog post soon. I currently use Redken Blonde Idol Shampoo & Redken Color Matrix Conditioner + I use a purple shampoo at least twice a week to keep my hair from getting brassy! My magical hair product though is It’s A 10 Miracle Spray. OMG. Detangles, makes your hair shiny, and just solves all of my hair problems. It’s a dream.

11. Who is your fashion Inspo?

I don’t know if I have a specific inspiration, but I love @champagneandchanel and @jamienkidd’s style. I grew up being a tomboy though and I’ve always enjoyed sports, so I definitely love my sporty looks as well! I feel like my style is a mix between boho-chic, tomboy & preppy. Haha

12. What is your favourite thing about your husband?

I’d have to say his desire to continuously educate himself not only about issues going on in the world, but about everything. Literally everything. If he doesn’t know something, he will look it up right then and there then proceed to read five articles about it. I’m not a big reader, mainly because I get too distracted, so I love that he carries that quality.

13. How do you edit your pictures?

I use Lightroom to edit my photos. I prefer the desktop version because you can do more. I always try to give my photos a warm vibe to go along with my love for the sunshine! I use @LisaHomsy’s presets as a base and then add my warmer tones to it from there. Shooting with a DSLR definitely helps because you can shoot in RAW mode. It allows for more editing capabilities & edits look much more natural.

14. After accomplishing your dream job at Universal, what is your next career goal in LA?

My goal is to freelance in events and have the capability to work on events all over the world. I also love creating content for brands that I love, so I’ll continue to balance the two as long as I can.

15. What’s your favorite thing to do?

It really depends on my mood and the weather outside. If it’s sunny out, I always want to be outdoors! I love relaxing, so laying by the pool while catching up on Instagram or reading a book is a dream. In Florida, my favorite thing to do was have a day out on the boat with my closest friends or a beach BBQ. I love outdoor picnics with my hubby and dogs. I also love waking up, watching Jeopardy and having coffee. This isn’t a joke. Drinking coffee might be my favorite activity. I’m a big homebody. I literally never get bored!

16. How do you balance your responsibilities and still find time for self care?

This is a great question that I still struggle with sometimes. There’s so much that I want to jam into one day and it’s just not possible. I have a spiral notebook that I keep with me at all times and jot down random things I want or need to get done. Each day I pick a few things from the list to tick off. I’ve developed a routine of waking up in the morning, having breakfast and then creating a list of my daily to-dos & a schedule for the day while drinking coffee. I always make sure to include time for myself! But, writing things down is the first step.

17. Do your dogs travel with you?

Yes! They fly with us between California and Florida lots. When we visit England, they stay at their grandparent’s house in Florida. 😉

18. Who is your favorite character in Harry Potter?

I get this question a lot. 😉 I love Dobby!

19. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in life?

I’ve spent most of my life pleasing other people. Other people’s opinions were always number one on my mind and I didn’t even realize that I wasn’t truly happy until I started focusing on myself – thinking for myself, living for myself. It’s important to make other people happy too. In fact, I love making other people happy, but I’ve learned that making sure I’m fulfilled first is most important.

20. What’s one quote that you live by?

  1. A fitness routine or maybe healthy recipes or anything you’ve found that helps you live a healthier lifestyle would be incredibly beneficial especially with the ever so indulgent holiday season coming up 🙂

  2. Hi, Angela, I’m enjoying your blog. You sound like someone who might be a great inspiration for those who seek self help and positive reinforcement. Your blog seems to be partially there already. You may want to consider adding a section of self help or personal inspiration that ties into other parts of your blog. There is certainly a lot of material out there for it. Maybe every other month cover a certain author or expert and interview or quote them on a particular subject, and how it ties into something in your blog, then allow an open forum for posting questions at a scheduled time. Anyway my post is too long so I will shut up now LOL.

    1. Hi, Cyndi! First of all, thank you so much for reading and saying this! Comments like this really keep me going and help me find my purpose. I would love to find a way to tie this in. Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that I could actually be an inspiration, but that’s not the attitude to have is it? You’ve just motivated me. Thanks, lovely! And your comments could never be too long! I wish I had your creative writing ability. Haha. – Angela xx

  3. Thst’s so cool you used to work for Universal Orlando!! Ironically, I found your page when you posted with Blowfish shoes from Disneyland. I love following fashion bloggers or accounts with lots of Disney/Universal content, because I love theme parks 😂😂

    1. Hey, Allison! That’s so awesome. I’m so glad you found me! My heart definitely has a huge place for Universal. I’m actually going back to work on a project with them later this month. So nice to meet you! – Angela xx
